My name is Carl Olofsson, and I am 39 years old.
I started fishing around the same time I learned to walk, and it has been my absolute greatest passion ever since. As a child, I fished for everything—using both fly and spinning gear, and targeting all kinds of species, but for the last 10–15 years, I have focused exclusively on fly fishing.
I spend the vast majority of my time pursuing resident trout.
I live 20 minutes outside Gothenburg, just a five-minute walk from waters holding wild trout. This allows me to fish two to five evenings a week during the season. I serve as a river warden and am a board member for the local river association; I am deeply committed to conservation and improving conditions for our wild fish populations.
Fly tying goes hand in hand with my love for fishing, and sometimes I think I enjoy the tying process even more than the fishing itself (not entirely true, but close). I am incredibly grateful to have discovered fly tying, as it gives me a creative outlet during the dark months of the year.
I was born and raised in Västerås but moved to Spain at the age of 18, where I met my wife, who is from Gothenburg. That is how we eventually ended up here. I now live just outside Gothenburg with my wife, Desirée, and our two children, Nova and Malte. When I’m not tying flies or fishing, spending time with them is my main priority. :)
